Another benefit of yoga is massage, for example you can massage your diaphragm with yogic breathing. You can also massage different parts of your body with different poses and movements, like your legs, back, neck and so on. It's not as good as recieving a massage from another person, but it is free.

Yoga is great for relaxation and meditation.

I've been doing the half lotus a lot lately. It feels really good. It seems to feel even better and become even easier when I do it in my chair, which is nice and convenient. Also doing it in my chair keeps my back straight.

Speaking of my back I've been doing this pose a lot lately. It's clearly the opposite of what we normally do, which is sitting in a chair hunched over a computer screen or playing videogames for hours. So it's a great way to counter all that damage we're doing to our back by sitting around all the time. Additionally this pose strengthens the arms, legs, abs, spine, and energizes you.

Here's what I've been experimenting with lately. Only body weight workouts but I intend to buy some weights when I get the extra cash.

100 pushups (two sets of 50)
30 pullups (usually two sets of 15 but I struggle pretty badly on the last set)
30 chinups (WAY easier than pullups but I do them after pullups so I don't always get to 30 in two sets)

That about does it for my arms usually in one session, but I'll drop and do 25-30....sometimes even 40 pushups at times throughout the day. As far as abs go....

Flutter kicks for days (I usually go for 75 four-counts like I did in the Army....that's with hands underneath my buttocks/lower back....although I do 25 with my hands behind my head)
20-25 leg raises (these are done without break right after I finish the flutter kicks....they usually kick my ass)
Planks (hold myself in pushup position for 1:30, do 1:00 on both sides, then back to the middle for 1:00)

    Legs:
Two sessions of 2:00 of wall sits (I fucking hate these things but love the progress I'm seeing from them)
50 lunges on each leg (performed right after the first session of wall sits)

So yeah, that's what I been playin around with. That's a pretty typical workout I'll do every 2 days or so. I'm honestly trying to get my pushups back to where they were in the Army (65 in 2 minutes) so I been focusing on those a lot. I'm looking to get back into running because I just quit smoking cigs and it seems like a pretty opportune time with summer being in full swing.

Also, as a test for my legs I'll go roughly 13-15 hours without sitting down or resting in any fashion. Usually get that leg workout in and then head to work for 7-8 hours, then come back and use my computer on my bookcase. It's hard not to subconsciously shift my weight onto my left hip and leg so I've been trying not to do that.

Month and a half in the Gym... people are already noticing

    "Have you been working out?"

    Nothing more satisfying to hear.

6'3, 167 lbs. puts me at 20.9. Not too shabby although I'm pretty sure BMI readings are known to be inaccurate for the most part.

I remember back in pe class I was with my friends and one of our lifting squad ppl(they split us up into groups of 4 and groups rotated workouts) was havjng trouble with the bench. Then I asked out loud "why is one arm stronger than the other?" Then a friend of my friend started laughing and I was like "what?....oh!"

    Drink lots of water.

Also cramps are caused by a build up of lactic acid, which occurs after working out or other strenuous activities. To reduce your lactic acid you can consume things high in potassium like Coconuts (coconut water, oil, or just coconuts in general have more potassium than anything else), Spinach, Salmon, white beans, beets, chard, yogurt.

I've also heard that due to certain amino acids in lettuce and cannabis eating them directly after a workout can reduce the lactic acid in your body.

potatoes are high in potassium as well.

you can also do a light cardio to flush out lactic acid at the end of your workout.

you might be experiencing muscle spasm (locks your muscles almost)?

    stretch more to avoid spasms

Excellent tips Eri! I've been promoting stretching for a while, there's so many benefits and it prevents a lot of problems throughout life.

Dx will regret not stretching when/if he gets older.
